Why Sawtooth

Owner-operated
vs. national chain.

Same job, very different experience. What a local owner-operated crew looks like next to a national chain.
Sawtooth Moving
  • Dave answers the phone. Owner-operator, not a call center.
  • Same crew, both ends. The people who load it in Idaho unload it at the destination, with no third-party hand-offs.
  • Plain-English quotes. The number on the phone is the number on the invoice.
  • 24-hour cancel = no charge. Refundable deposit, credited to your total at settle-up.
  • Open 7 days, 7 am–9 pm Mountain. Direct line to Dave.
Typical National Chain
  • Sales agent in a call center books your move.
  • Local subcontractors load; a different crew unloads at the destination.
  • Low quote up front; fuel, stair, long-carry, and “binding estimate” fees stacked at the truck.
  • Non-refundable deposits and restrictive cancellation windows.
  • Customer-service queue. Owner you’ll never meet.

Common Questions

Quick answers
before you call.

Most of these come up on the first call. Here's the short version.
How much does a Twin Falls move cost?

Depends on size, distance, and what's moving. Plain-English quotes by phone, flat rate when the job is predictable, hourly when it isn't. No deposit to hold the date. Call (208) 543-1460 for a real number, or use the online estimator for a quick ballpark before you call.

What areas do you serve?

We're headquartered in Twin Falls and cover the Magic Valley (Jerome, Kimberly, Filer, Buhl, Burley, Rupert, Hailey, Sun Valley, Hagerman, Wendell, and Gooding) plus Boise and long-distance routes across the West. See the full service area for the regions we cover.

Do you handle long-distance moves out of state?

Yes. The same crew loads the truck in Idaho and unloads it at the destination, with no shared loads and no third-party hand-offs. Quote it on the call.

How quickly can I get an estimate?

Call (208) 543-1460 any day from 7 am to 9 pm Mountain. Most customers have a ballpark by the end of the call. Prefer to start online? The free estimator gives you a number in under a minute. Larger or commercial moves may need a quick walkthrough first.

What are your hours?

Calls answered seven days a week, 7 am to 9 pm Mountain. Call (208) 543-1460 any time in that window, with no answering service.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Sawtooth Moving Co. is licensed and insured to operate in Idaho. We bring pads, dollies, and the paperwork on every job.

More From The Phone

More questions we
hear every week.

Drawers, deposits, dressers, distance. Real questions, straight answers.
Do I have to empty all my drawers before you move my dresser?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on the dresser and depends on the move. If we're going up and down stairs or the dresser's already loaded heavy, we'll usually ask you to empty it so it doesn't break. Most dressers aren't built to hold all your stuff plus get lifted up a flight of stairs. If it's a straight load on a single level, you can usually leave the soft stuff in there. We'll tell you straight when we look at it.

Do you disconnect and reconnect appliances?

No. For safety and liability reasons, our crews don't disconnect, reconnect, or install appliances like washers, dryers, refrigerators, or ranges, and we don't touch gas, water, or electrical hookups. We'll absolutely move and protect them, but they need to be disconnected before move day and reconnected afterward by you or a licensed pro. Get that handled ahead of time and the whole move goes smoother.

Do you sell packing supplies or boxes?

We don't sell boxes, but we'll bring wardrobe boxes and TV boxes free of charge for your move, as long as we get them back at the end. The wardrobes are the big one. If you're doing a local move, we'll bring a few wardrobes, you hang your clothes right in there while we're loading the truck, and we pull them back out at the new place. Beats moving 14 trash bags full of clothes every time. Need real packing supplies for a long pack? We'll point you to where to grab them.

How far do you actually travel? Where are you willing to go?

Twin Falls is home base, and most of our jobs run across southern and eastern Idaho (Boise, Sun Valley, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Rexburg) plus northern Utah down to Provo, eastern Oregon out to Ontario, and northern Nevada down to Elko. We also take long-distance moves out of state. Wherever you're headed, give us a call and we'll work out the best way to get you there.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, debit, or credit card. We can also accept bank transfer (ACH) or Zelle if you prefer. Please note: cards carry a processing fee added to your total, so ACH is cheaper and cash has none at all. We'll walk you through it on the call. We don't accept personal checks. Whatever you choose, you can pay at the truck once the job is done, and we'll process it on the spot.

When do you bring a third mover?

Anytime the job needs it. Stairs are the big one: if you have a third-floor apartment, or both your pickup and drop-off have stairs, we send a three-mover crew so we're not overloading two movers with all the trips. Upright pianos and anything heavy or awkward, we bring a third. We also reserve the right to add a third mover if we arrive on-site and find the job is larger than planned. There's an add-on for the extra mover. We'll lay out exactly what your move needs when you call.

What's the 24-hour deposit charge about?

Twenty-four hours before your scheduled move time, we charge the card on file for a deposit. It comes straight off your total when we settle up at the end of the job. It's not an extra charge. The deposit is there because we've had last-minute cancellations on move day that left us covering the labor and the drive. If you need to cancel or reschedule, just give us more than 24 hours' notice and the deposit doesn't run. Want the exact number for your move? Dave will give it to you on the call.

Do you do long-distance or out-of-state moves?

Yes. Dave does long-distance moves regularly: Seattle, Salt Lake, and beyond. Depending on what you're moving, he can quote it as a full move or help you set up a shipping container, whichever gets you there for the best price. Give us a call and we'll work out what makes the most sense for your move.
